Izzy93 & Lil A - Never Sober (Album)
Starting the year off with his “Big 93” album, it’s no surprise that Izzy93 would want to end the successful year he’s had by capitalizing it with one more project, except this time, he’s linking with Lil A to bring us his last release of the year in a 15-track album titled “Never Sober.” The project has Izzy & Lil A continuing the cycle of using auto-tune in their vocals. While most artists dry out the sound, they maximize the efforts of using the vocal technique by adding their street poetic raps to forgo the struggles they endure and the vices that have consumed their being to drown out their emotions in syrup or rolled up in a swisher wrap to smoke away their issues.
Getting the paper takes a toll on the soul; most people will sell theirs to make a profit, while others like Izzy & Lil A will do the work in the concrete jungles of the Southside to make days ahead of them. “93Akt4” details those same experiences, thinking of the past where things could’ve gone wrong where instead of cash filling their pockets, they would’ve seen life behind bars or, worst, being six feet underground. People only see the aftermath but never the beginning of the hustle; both artists speak from the grind's savior-faire, making their wins feel even more vital. They talk about the hate they get from their oppression by dealing with it tactically, that if needed, artillery warfare will commence right at their front door. They up the tempo in numerous tracks from the project, like the Lil M3D-featured record “Top Charts” & “D.O.A,” heavily igniting their desires for the luxurious items and the dead presidents stacking up in their favor. Izzy93 hasn’t lost any momentum from first appearing on the scene; even when he has some breaks in between behind closed doors, he’s working on the next best thing for him and his team. Adding Lil A to the mix only drives their success up, and I’m sure the new year, they will continue to apply pressure to the rap game in the city as they soar over the competition to be at the very top of the tower in San Antonio.
Izzy93 & Lil A couldn’t let off their necks that quick; they have already announced the visual to “Case Closed” off the album will be the last thing from them to close out the year. How soon will we see a new release in 2023? I think we ought to wait and see what’s next, with anticipation rising.
