Boldy James & Future Wave - Mr. Ten08 (Album)

From the countless classics projects with Alchemist to his recent collaboration with Nicholas Craven, Boldy James finds himself back in the booth floating over production with a collaborator where; this time, it’s with Canadian producer Future Wave in their 10-track album titled “Mr. Ten08”. Boldy James is supplying listeners with cocaine raps doused over soulful samples & gritty production, which is applying pressure for the doubters and nonbelievers still not hip to the Detroit emcee’s success. Still, no matter, it won’t be long until you start seeing the shine from his jewelry reflected over to the accomplishments he’s been getting where his name is being lightened with greatness.

I’ve said this once, and I’ll say it again, ain’t nothing sharper than Boldy’s pen; his wit and illustrious style is unmatched, which is quite suave to see him conquer with ease in every track he’s on. Take his intro titled “The Whole Hundro” as an example; he explains what keeps him different from the sucka shit and compares it to the riches he gets to his opposition, where his bag runs deep where their pockets don’t. Boldy lets the line starts spitting into pimpin conversation with how smoothly his bars come together. He never misses when it comes to expressing the high life and the amount of luxury he sees on the daily. It’s all about the grinding and hustling, never the hoping or the wishing. Flowing over the jazz horns on “Mortermier Milestone,” Boldy continues to seize the moment of comparing his lifestyle to dope game successions. Discussing the profitable street products to the love he has for fine women, Boldy never strays away from mentioning his deep admiration for the dead presidents while basking in the wins he makes over the losses he never takes.

We ball hard, check my expense report

The grittier the beat, the more menacing Boldy’s raps come out, and on his following record, “Smacked,” he’s seen delivering an arsenal of rhymes that will sink a fleet ship and cause damage to a militia. Shining brighter than the diamonds in his neck and wrist, Boldy sizes up the beat with ease to set off a rampage of bars throughout the record that follows over to his remaining tracks. One of the highlights for me personally off the album was “My Double Trigger,” which vastly sees the vigorous energy in Boldy’s prestigious pen to let off skillful barrages of grit and bravado, which is some of the similarities you can hear in “Flag On The Play.” At the same time, the beat stays steady, humming over the harmonious tune of Boldy’s lyrical canon begin to dump clips into listeners' eardrum leading off his melodic tone when expressing his road to riches. Boldy ain’t come to play on this album; his incline is one of the best out right now, where any new music we get from him will complement the last release.

Boldy has already discussed his upcoming schedule with releases; he doesn’t show any sign of slowing down; instead, he wants to keep the pressure applying on that sucka shit, so it doesn’t come back outside. Expect 2023 to be another year taken over by Boldy James, so for you, frail rappers, enjoy 2022 while you still can, and don’t let these bars hit you too hard when you exit out the door.
