King Khali - Chroma BLUE (Single)

When we discuss producer/rapper duos, we need to be mentioning Khali & Duvin in those conversations. Anybody who’s in the know, knows full well that when you see these two names besides one another, it is not something to be taken lightly. They both know how to really push one another to top the last rhyme written or beat produced. There’s not many that rhyme at the level Khali does over Duvin’s production & literally no other artist gets Duvin’s best pieces when it comes down to it either. These production pieces were specifically catered for Khali & honestly, these are their toughest records yet! Not to mention, Khali’s Chroma run so far this year has been one of the best, if not the best single series we’ve seen, period in Hip Hop. It’s like, you know what you’re gonna get but you also don’t know what to expect with each color, we can only wait patiently for each installment.

It’s only fitting, being that this dropped on Halloween Day, that they open things up sending chills down spines with the haunting choir chanting at the intro portion of “Cut Your Losses”. Khali hasn’t even spoken yet & already you can feel the tension in the air as he readies himself to offer the opposition the sternest of warnings. If you’re familiar with what Khali has proven time & time again, that he’s capable of, then you would think twice before crossing him in any sort of way, especially when it comes to this rap shit cause at this point, it’s light work for him, child’s play to offer these horsey whippings. I’m sure those who follow him know exactly who he’s referring to with those opening lines, hilarious. Let that alone be a prime example of why you shouldn’t test him. We’re talking about a man who used to let people walk all over him, now he refuses to take his foot of their necks, no matter how much they beg. He & Duvin’s relationship goes back, as he mentions the classic “Basement”, just in case anybody may have forgotten how long they’ve been doing this shit, real veterans in this game. He’s seriously just talking shit at this juncture in his career. There’s so many brutally witty lines in here like “and I know you ain’t trying to beef about some pussy, I’ll send her right back when my trial end”, like what? I feel secondhand embarrassment after that line, dear lord.

You should’ve known the second you saw that ski mask pulled over his face on the cover art that Khali was about to come through sliding on the opps like the goon he still is at heart. Don’t get it twisted cause he’s much more matured now & far past the troubles in his past, it’d be nothing for him to revert back to old tactics to teach a few lessons to those who need it & that he does with his “Role Model” flow. He’s on a tear lyrically throughout this beat, hell bent for leather as he goes full speed ahead, Duvin’s production being the driving force for him to recklessly endanger lives in this lyrical crash course of theirs. His actions, though his momma wouldn’t approve, are completely justifiable here, playing Cardi B over Tha Carter III should be a federal offense, shorty should’ve known better & I’m sure she regretted her mistake as she flew out the whip. The bars are never ending with these two excerpts & are easily some of Khali’s finest performances lyrically. He intended on popping balloons with this installment, leaving these kiddies crying. What a goddamn Tarabully. Don’t go easy on them ever Khali!
