9k Tay. - Blood, Sweat, Tears.. (Album)
Introduced to us by esteemed producer & tastemaker in the city, Big Tex Johnny, last week, he mentioned that he was gearing up to work on a project with Houston artist 9k Tay. then shared a single to help promote 9k under the Perros Feroces imprint. Now off the rip, we were unfamiliar with 9k’s music which immediately changed since we saw that he had just put the finishing touches on a new project for 2022 titled “Blood, Sweat, Tears..” The project is full of gun talk and street warfare built with belligerent wordplays and boastful melodies. You can hear why Big Tex Johnny's production would be incredible over these vainglorious vocals, and it’s something we anticipate to hear for the future.
The album's intro titled “Finish Him!” is charged up and full of gusto when 9k starts letting off the lyrical choppa. He’s applying pressure right out the gate, with no reason to let up anytime soon. He follows the infernal record up with “Villains.” He speaks of how lethal his ambition is while still speaking on his artillery and the rounds he got for those opposing his authority. He doesn’t hold back his angst towards the fact that when necessary, he gots clips and weaponry to handle any problem, so best come correct to him if he doesn’t want the AK to start howling. Some of our favorites from the project have to be “Lumberjack” & “Belly Flow” that has to be the hellish record that brings fiery rage to his raps and continue onward to the outro of the project titled “Bowls” that keeps you wanting more to jam out to whether it be in the trap, the whip or the comfort of the street. His music is an intense look into concrete tales that many attempts to fake, but this right here is as real as it gets, so don’t go entering something you aren’t ready for and act like it’s a game. 9k Tay. bodies the track with beats explaining his daily routine of being posted with bellicose rhymes and dealing with the necessary endeavors to make it back home at the end of the day instead of being six feet deep in the ground.
It’s safe to say that this will not be the last we hear about 9k Tay., especially since Big Tex Johnny has already spoken about collaboration between the two. Expect his name to be posted on the site more and start getting familiar with his art by checking out his latest tape here while sharing it around on all social media avenues.
