Kydd Jones - Onyx d’Or (No More Waiting) (EP)

What started as an impactful release during December with Kydd Jones dropping his “Jet Seats” visual featuring Quin NFN turned quickly into an efficacious series of previews that would help raise anticipation for his upcoming EP titled “Onyx d’Or (No More Waiting). The 7-track project would be his first release of 2022 and one of the most talked-about & praised so far in January, according to our timeline. Kydd Jones took a page out of the book of legends by having his album cover don the adolescent image of Kydd just like with Biggie, Nas & Wayne’s album art that have one thing in common: they all became timeless works that helped pave their legacy into hip-hop. This project could be Kydd’s “Illmatic,” “Ready To Die,” or “The Carter 3”; listen in and judge for yourself.

The project begins with the infectious intro titled “Harpoon” that shoots right out our heartstring and lays down the anchors. It pulls us in with his auto-tone vocals that supply enough warm sounds to keep us cemented down to start enduring a transcendent project. The slow-down tempo waking into “Crisp Sprite” has us knowing that this will be a love joint. It’s precisely that & possibly one of the finest we’ve heard from Kydd. With the way he’s wearing his heart on his sleeve, we receive a ballad at remarkable proportions & more awakening to his emotional drive. The godly reigns of “Jets Seats” with Quin NFN was an incredible record when it first surfaced, and now being plugged in with the rest of the tracks here make its presence become a more evolved single that helps push the sounds to a versatile effort. “Sprinter” may be the only fast-paced track on the project. Still, it’s the one that will catch fans' attention immediately that will have them circulating the project in their daily schedules to have a catchy moment with a conscious experience. Especially with moving from this bop to “Goblin” that has a more harmonious boom-bap feel to it that has Kydd expressing more of his soul on wax. It’s the beginning track of seeing a similar outcome for the remainder of the records where he’s digging deep within and showing more emotions that get a boastful energy from him that’s capturing an essence of bliss. “Way Up” is his victory lap joint in sharing his placement of where his hard work has gotten him; he knows he has people in his life rooting for him and knows what is at stake for them to see better days forward. It helps enter into the outro track titled “Free Your Mind” featuring Felly that speaks on him getting out of the usual realm of succeeding and doing it independently. He’s not thinking like his peers; he’s on a different mind state that many see as unorthodox, but it’s the route where he has complete control of his destiny and knows what needs to be done to complete it. Kydd Jones pushes the pen in such a dynamic way that you can’t help but applause his every effort in this project to be a shining example of what real music sounds like from an artist who gives you his all every time he starts spitting.

2022 will be another insane year for Kydd Jones; he’s been one of the few to always strive for success while doing it incredible fashion. We expect nothing less from him and know many more blessings are heading his way. Check out the project here while sharing it on all social media platforms.
