Naomi Janae - Hell Is For Lovers (EP)
If “Hell Is For Lovers” then Naomi Janae is hell bent for leather to get there on her debut EP. Obviously I say that based off the opening record “TOO FAST!”, which it does begin very startling, instantly grabbing the listener as Noami’s operatic hums lull you into a false sense of reality as they very dauntingly sync up gorgeously with Coach Wave portentous production. He executive produced the whole project, blending Noami’s intoxicating vocals with his infectious Electro-Pop overtones & in return, pulling us right into their enmeshed psyches for a nostalgia tinged dreamscape of an EP.
Calling on God to give her that “GREEN LIGHT”, she’s beyond enamored but love at first sight & as the track’s predecessor already entailed, she’s eager enough to rush into things with this person, choosing to disregard the fact that, maybe she might be head over heels or even over her head but, as the track has us, the listener in a trance with its swaying electronica, so is she when she’s in the same vicinity as this person. In that moment, you want that feeling to last “4EVR”, it’s almost like maladaptive daydreaming in a way, all she can focus on is this person, all she can see is this person, it’s like nothing else is surrounding them & it’s just them, together forever.
If she could just get “ALONE WITH U”, she could show you how worth it she is & I believe she executed that on that earnest little number, it’s so sweetly serene, like she’s an angel whose wings just got clipped & she’s falling from Grace as the other angels are weeping, hoping her person will be waiting down below as a safety net once her descent is over. Coach’s production on this one is so poignant, a real heartstring snipper, it’ll get you in all the right chords, as will the final cut “ILY”. The lone record that differs from the rest of this EP, Naomi closes things with such sincerity, it’s almost heartbreaking how gorgeous this thing called love is, it started out a bit chaotic but by the end, it seems the experience was worth it.
