Naalah - Gemini (EP)

Ever since her 2020 EP "Even When I'm Tired" left an everlasting impression on us, I've been dying to hear what she would follow with after this miraculous project. She's had two singles appear earlier this year that sounded like extended plays from the project, maybe even some that were leftover or didn't make the cut, but we're still created with the same soundscape that would hold us over until the next release. To our surprise, it happened recently before the weekend began, where she released a 5-track EP titled "Gemini" that held our attention from the ending of Friday to the Sunday night where I'm writing this post but rested assured will be playing more after this.

Naalah is in her bag with this project, and you can sense that with her intro record "Yellow Honda Freestyle," where she begins the record like a radio disc jockey introducing the FM listeners to herself then speaking in such firm and bold vocals that just come off as potent poetry. So much sass in the track, and I'm digging the manifestation she reflects on here. It's like she's walking on water in the track where we're watching her look elegant from start to finish. If you were fans of the first project, then prepare to be even bigger fans here. The mic extends her voice and she’s talking her shit showing you the talent goes beyond the angelic vocals but that she can back it up with flows too. She is adjusting to the new sound, and is doing the damn thing on it, and I'm enjoying every single second of it. She carries this smooth transition in every song where her words are just so delicate yet catchy, where each line feels like diamonds falling from the sky. This EP is neo-soul with swagger; this is like Lauryn Hill & Ghostface Killah collaborating in a studio creating gems; I mean, this is probably the only way to describe the immense feeling. She's on a "Cynical" journey of making the art she wants to and has perfected a wave of doing it. She is "One Of Many" that we hear nowadays that continue to go over expectations and ultimately make something astronomical for us fans to be blown away with when listening to it. I almost thought the record "Pothos" was heading back to her original style, which definitely had the start of it but came back to the sound transcribed in the project and put the finishing touches on a project that I'm going to be keeping near and dear in my playlist for a while.

I loved how when we posted her first project; people started noticing her more and more. For this project, I will need to see double that, which so far we have seen it. Toast to Naalah for making such an incredible project, which we hope to see a visual for one of the records off the project hopefully surface in the future. We'll wait patiently to see what happens next, but until then, we'll be sure to keep it spinning while we hope you do the same.
