Marty Rantzen - Adobo (Single)

I was sleeping on Marty Rantzen cause he came through to wake anybody who was to die with this ominously portentous record "Adobo"; that' is this overbearing trap sound. You can already see the rubble, the debris coming down from the castles that were once in the clouds. You don't deserve to bask in the fruits of someone else's labor; you didn't put in the work quite as he has. It's a fitting introduction to a new artist, an instant bitch slap to the face & he's no slouch either lyrically; each bar is another pound to the pavement, cracking even the hardest of stones.

Suppose I'm not mistaken when he says, "season the dope fore I cook it, hit it like adobo." In that case, he's talking about the paste, the marinade consisting of chili peppers, vinegar, herbs & spices, used primarily in Mexican cooking. He's putting the pièce de résistance on the dope he's letting simmer to a boil, exemplifying the heat that's bubbling underneath the surface. There's even some introspective storytelling in here; his raw conviction that he spits will let you know of his authenticity. He also offers a stern warning to anybody who may be bold enough to question just who the fuck he is & what he's capable of. When he spits "loyalty ties like "squad" & "gang," we ain't in it for dolo," he's urging you to back up fore he has a whole battalion behind him, just waiting to strike.

I must say that this was one hell of a 1st impression & makes me even happier that he has a nice little archive for me to live with. You're not just going to hit me like that & expect me not to venture deeper into just what your pen is about after rapping with this level of ferocity. He's not fucking around; he's coming through rolling deep, surrounding you on all corners, then firing from all cylinders. He's doing anything but bragging; he's just stating it like it is & I, for one, look forward to more concrete crumbles like this one. We all know damn well by the end of this that it won't be the last time he has to come back & lay the smackdown.
