TB Robby - That Boy Robby (Album)
The sophomore effort from “That Boy Robby” is here & it’s another excellent record to hold under the great state of Texas’s belt. What could be more Texas than Southside Hoodlum being the lone feature on your album? It’s almost 20 minutes of why Robby is that boy; he can’t lie about anything he’s done, been through & continues to do, a fitting way to start this honest to god album of his. He doesn’t gotta fake the funk to be considered fundamental; the way he carries himself is enough for you to know that he’s the real deal, album intros are always important & he started this one out strong with this smooth number.
He’s got a “Dollar and a Dream” to get out of the environment he comes from; he’s no longer who he was in the past. Still, if push comes to shove, he can easily tap into that young & wild kid, so make sure your “Energy” is correct when stepping to him. He’s always on the move, kinetic cause nobody can push you to achieve more than yourself, the world is in his hands & only he can manifest what he’s to make of it all. Still, he had to get off that block to make it all come to fruition; it was too hot to keep standing there, him & Hoodlum alike being that they come from backgrounds, you can draw correlations between them. Nice to hear two completely different tones on the same song & it works!
That boy Robby is a juggernaut with how he stomps throughout the beat like the “Big Steppa” he is, running laps around his detractors as they stand & watch with their smug faces like he couldn’t squash them like a bug if he wanted to. Still, he’d rather be the “Lover Man,” he’s good on all that nonsense people try to project onto you; it is what it is. He’s just going to keep cruising through life unphased by the bullshit; life has been crazy for him, but his bravado throughout this album lets’ touch know that he’ll always be good no matter what life throws his way. He’s able to adjust; accordingly, a fitting way to end this 20-minute journey into the life of TB Robby, reflective music is always top tier.
