JMAC the Dragon - Out of the Ashes (EP)
It’s looking to be the Year of the Dragon; JMAC already came through to “Feed The People,” then hit them with the “Double Up Pack,” & now he’s rising like a Phoenix “Out of the Ashes” with three more ferocious cuts from the fiery wordsmith. We very much appreciate all this content; you can tell he’s a studio junkie just by his evident love of the craft. This EP is just what he does best, writing till he’s restless; he’s been “At it 4 Days,” but the pen must continue to be pushed & he pushes it far past its limit. I wouldn’t necessarily call it political rap; it’s more like power music to me. He’s battling himself, it’s like a civil war going on inside him & he’s just slaying his demons.
He’s here to “Manifest” his dreams rather than sit around daydreaming about them. He’s making it happen, standing firmly & solely on his skill as an MC, it’s always going to be fierce when he’s getting ready to exhale, but it’s like he doesn’t even have time to catch a breath as he’s effortlessly ripping through the beat, Dot O comes through with what he has to say, this is a revolution for him & he isn’t going out without a fight, saying a lot of things that people will definitely get people talking.
It’s a “New Year,” but he’s still breathing that same fire; I love how on these three, he still keeps it bar heavy but, there’s a lot of social commentaries weaved throughout it all that makes it all the more tangible. Far too often, people claim so-called rappity rap is just you rapping a whole bunch of words together, but that isn’t the case here. He’s still rapping his off, but with substance, something for people the grasp onto & let’s not forget Young Badger for providing the fuel to his fire, not only must you heed what you hear on here, but, keep your guard up, the Dragon will be standing over your palisade soon enough.
