SwaVay - 5 Minutes (Single)
Metro Boomin wants some more & we sure do Metro & what better way to get it than in the form of his very first signee, SwaVay's latest single "5 Minutes", his second release this year since "Shooter" & no, the song is not 5 minutes long. Still, the warped minimalism of it kind of makes it feel like it is. He's on his way to her place in t minus 5 minutes, no more, no less, all she has to do is say the word or give the signal & he'll be well on his way; it's another perfect nighttime record. Sisdom laid the ideal blanket for SwaVay to lay his subtle melodies & lyrical flow over.
His storytelling on here is so smooth; once we get out of the melodic zone, he begins to lay his rap. His monotone voice only further adds to how serious he is about what he's explaining to this person. Still, the way he can seamlessly switch back to the melodic flow is beautifully executed. He's dead serious about making this girl his & by all means, he's going to. He indeed has the style & convincing nature in his voice to lull her into that comfort zone. He doesn't want to waste any time; just let him know, don't keep him waiting.
I look forward to hearing more of SwaVay. I only recently became familiar with him after hearing this single's predecessor & already I'm convinced of his talents as not only a songwriter but a lyricist. "I promise I never learned how to swim, but I know how to deal with a river," you can cry one onto his shoulder; he ''s offering you to lie on if you just hit his line. Tell him it's time for him to come over; he's only going to come over on your say so, don't keep him waiting & he won't keep you waiting either.
