Cheridomingo - Swallow (Single)

We're all too familiar with the talent that hails from Sunny Cal, LA & Cheridomingo is a four-piece band that can be added to that list of talent. The quartet has steadily been putting in work since their 2018 debut "Feelings," which was an Indie Pop goodness & they continue to elevate their sound far beyond their debut, two singles in 2019 & one in 2020. The artwork of that one indicates that they are currently prepping up a follow-up sophomore effort & it's already shaping to be monumental beyond their debuts comprehension.

Where "Drugs" was more crushing, "Swallow" is more melancholy, like you're floating to the bottom of the river. They're hoping that you make like krill & await an open whale mouth. The weight this track carries is like two cinderblocks tied around your ankles, just pulling you down & you scream, gasping for air as the air bubbles become less & less frequent. You are panicking, trying to swim for safety but can't as you continue swallowing tons of ocean water; this is the tide that'll wash you up on a deserted island.

This record is an excellent follow-up to the last single; they may have a hit on their hands with this one. The songwriting is impeccable yet straightforward; these lyrics can weather away even the finest of stones as they sit right between wind & water. The relationship has endured a climatic sea change from both parties; the link that was once between them is now a rope of sand, dampened & it has left them both sitting right beneath the salt. Still, these rough waters they're navigating will lead them to be right on the crest of the wave once their sophomore effort hits land. Until then, I'd look out for more SOS's.
