M2tt - Plan B (Album)

It's funny how the universe sometimes works. At this Poetry Night I attended not too long ago; I was left in awe with many lyricists; M2tt was one of them & little did I know that we were already following one another on the gram. Not many can be this crisp lyrically on their debut, but he's one of those rare cases, "Plan B" only further confirms the skill level I had the pleasure of witnessing that night. Along with Abstrxt, who's on three of these seven cuts & who matches his energy so effortlessly.

The short banter before the title track just shows that he's just someone who grew up freestyling around his boys. I wouldn't be surprised if he freestyled this whole album. Still, regardless, his pen is dangerous. He kicks things off by simply exhibiting that the rhymes as dizzying as the production is. As a writer myself, I must admit, I'm a bit jealous of some of these rhymes he's coming up with on here; rhyming "reaper coming" & "repercussions" is borderline a homophone. Still, more than just the skill, he details that he too has been in his lowest moments for quite some time, thinking about ending it all but encourages listeners to keep on fighting. Find an outlet like he did to express those struggles, that pain you're undergoing before it inevitably kills you.

"Ain't Shit Changed" in his life, people come when they can or at least try to gain something from you & they go when you can't deliver or they become jealous 'cause you're somehow getting in the way of them getting theirs. None of that shit is phasing M2tt & Abstrxt the least bit; it's going to be a "Rough Summer" for those people if these two keep beaming this unbearable heat down on them. He's used to seeing life in a frame, but he cracked it, now all he sees is the fact that he can't stand. He can only see himself moving forward while others continue retrogressing.

This project is "The Climb," & it's a hell of a mountain to not only embark atop but to move, but he clearly can "Believe" in himself enough to do so with ease. He's not looking down as the dirt is being kicked down below on any & all detractors as they become smaller & smaller the higher up he goes. He's steadily on that incline with no signs of sliding down that slope anytime soon & though he isn't new to this. If he falls from grace like the album art exhibits, well, the angels will just catch him & place him right back on that peak. Just be sure to stay tuned cause he has much more heavy lyricism on the way from this walking "Odyssey."
