Foggieraw - The Foggie Pound 2 (EP)

Picking right up where the 1st “Foggie Pound” left off five years ago, Foggieraw delivers more of that nonchalant excellence on its sequel, immediately opening up with a beautiful homage to Soulja Boy & Drake, aka the Draco. Those whistling flutes add to the vibey bop that it is; his rhymes are so nimble, “do you know your ABCs, you a geek,” with Kelow Latesha matching his energy effortlessly. The whole feel of the record is subtle, they’re almost whispering to you & that’s so you can just listen to the wittiness being delivered before your very eyes, not to mention those little laser sound effects in the background.

The sound instantly changes on the Tee Ferrari assisted “What Would U Do,” posing that simple question. Just imagine a response to all the questions he’s asking, a genius concept for a song; really think about what you would do if he were just to vanish into thin air. Think about the repercussions that would show up if you took away such versatility. He’s throwing curveball after curveball with these soundscapes; never would I expect a song titled “Bandz on Me Blue” to be a Lo-Fi, introspectively lyrical flex.

We even get some banging R&B with “On 6”, Mannywellz adding a unique texture to the record. His vocals are soulful as can be & then that spoken word from Foggie at the end, coupled with the subtle hums, is just a match made in heaven. How could he not “Floss”? He can switch so seamlessly between these different production pieces & have none of it sound forced. He’s just so relaxed as he breezes through all 5 of these with the wind at his back & surely his sophomore effort is on the way, to which I, for one, am stoked to hear if it’s going to have this same versatility, which I’m sure it will.
