Jarrett Michael feat Bryant Taylorr & YeAli - Thine Eyes (Single)
Is God looking upon thee with “Thine Eyes”? It’s a question that warrants some pondering. Life can make it to where we do have faith, but before we know it, it begins to get lopsided & we can’t seem to get back ahold of it. Just imagine you’re in their shoes, having to constantly have your guard up cause you can get it from any corner. Sometimes all of them at once, so every morning, he asks the lord above to keep eyes on him, make sure he’s protected from the outside forces grabbing away at his ligaments.
Hoping their prayers are answered through the sinuously passionate flow of the lyrics. These two waste no time laying it all out for others to see & in the 1st verse, Jarrett Michael is laid up with a queen, confiding in her about all the hardships he’s facing, letting go of all the emotional weight he’s been carrying. This record is no pillow talking, though; it’s care & compassion, enough for him to maintain his faith cause if anyone can tame the pain & anguish from within. It’s a strong woman, not to say she’s going to inherit his weight but, make it easier for him to keep pushing forward despite it all.
Ye Ali delivers a verse that matches this energy, though he’s rolling solo, detailing a story about how he almost lost his life to outside forces. Something I’m sure a lot of his people can relate to, gripping his faith & holding onto it for dear life, anxious about how future generations are going to be able to persevere through these grim realities. The chorus breathes in the flumes of both verses that help it sonically grow throughout the record. All praise to Bryant Tayorr with his valiant effort to raise the bar up so high. Knowing full well that if Jarett found a way to keep paving that they’ll at least have a right path left behind for them to follow once he’s gone, something has to give at some point. Still, God won’t lay on us what we can’t handle; patience is key.
