Liveola - Live, Have Mercy (Album)
Living legend Liveola is back & he’s delivering those same lectures so lavishly, line after line, no filler on his latest “Live, Have Mercy”, & that he should but doesn’t, anybody can get it, immediately condemning opposers with his fierce penance on the intro “Burnt Offerings”, how you start an album is crucial & he leaves the beat plus competition in critical condition, sure he got nothing but love but it’s not unconditional, you gonna learn instantly if you step to Live, I advise you step your everything up.
This shit is effortless to him, the syllable play & wittiness is palpable on “Holy Ola”, a groovy lyrical flexercise that’ll warp your fragile little mind, too many bars whizzing right by your ear like a bullet graze, “I can get them packs that look like we kidnap midgets”, then continues that syllable scheme with even more wittiness & we only 2 tracks in, need I remind you, he’s so relentless in his bullying, power rap on “The Building Fund”, the way the beat is just building up as much as the intensity in his tonality as he’s letting out these battle cries, the chants make it all the more holy, you’ll be left speaking in tongues trying to keep up, this is a whole “Different Liveola”, at least in terms of his so called contemporaries.
But don’t get it twisted, he can take it back to the “Basics” any given day if need be, that past hunger is now anger as he’s no longer demanding his respect, rather simply taking it with brute force, like the wrath of God & that’s the main theme here that he executes ruthlessly & like I said, he don’t discriminate, anybody can suffer if they take his name in vain, lots of introspection & words of wisdom from a now solidified God MC in my eyes, he deserves all the flowers he can get, til then, you better pray he doesn’t strike down upon you.
