Christine Renner - Drown (Single)
Austin is another haven for an immense amount of talent & their very own Christine Renner is no exception & her latest “Drown” is that cry that everyone would like to let out. Still, some just can’t find the strength to & people mistake tears for weakness when it’s actually the complete opposite. She’s here to lend a voice to those who don’t have one; she has a lot of bedlams herself, causing a ruckus in her mind, like anchors, are pulling her ship down after it hit the iceberg, luckily she can swim.
Christine lies somewhere between wind & water, washed up ashore, barely breathing, all covered in seaweed, little bits of sand becoming trapped underneath her eyelids, terrified even to see water again. Still, she knows it’s needed to drown out all her sorrows. It’ll all come out in the wash once she lets go & lets the waves take her wherever they wish, inviting us all to take a nosedive into your emotions & face them head-on, promising at the end of it all, those tears of the pain of anguish will soon be those of joy.
More than anything, I’m glad that artists are now prioritizing their mental health more than ever before. It’s beautiful when artists let the listener into their real-life & emotions cause that, to me, ensures your music will be timeless cause with such introspection. People will forever feel you; I know for me; personally, records like this are so welcome. As much of a writer I am, I can’t always find the words to explain the chaos that’s got me locked in my own Davy Jones Locker, so thank you for being that voice for me, Christine. Here’s to overcoming & no longer letting out struggles submerge us & make sure to peep the visuals & read her descriptions of this record on her socials; it adds so much more to an already poignant number.
