KIRBY - Sis. He Wasn’t The One (Album)
Last week, AKTHESAVIOR of The Underachievers had posted on his Instagram story an album by a songstress that goes by KIRBY. She had just dropped her project titled “Sis. He Wasn’t The One,” where the cover art intrigued me enough to give it a listen, which once I did, I was blown away with the sounds I was hearing. An angelic voice with so much soul over decorous production that intertwined so gracefully together prompted this album to be a unique piece of art for me that I just had to share my praise for it.
Now I initially walked in without knowing this was an actual follow-up project to her previous 2020 album, “Sis.” I wondered about it during my first play-through since the infectious single “Leon Pt. 2” was described as a second part when I hadn’t heard the first one. Nevertheless, my first play-through was just as superior as my second, even after learning that. Still, I did feel more infused with the records, like I’m hearing her whole story being told by the author herself, and I’m listening in close for the juicy parts to begin. I love how spontaneous KIRBY is on the project where one minute she is captivating the hearts with a “Love Song,” and seconds later, her pettiness is showing on “Break Her Heart For Me,” but it’s for a good reason. If she stayed loyal through your trifling ways, that means the next girl should feel that same wrath instead of attempting to be a “good guy” when you couldn’t do it for a good woman. Sass with alluring talks on joints like “Coconut Oil” & “Wish I Loved” are some of my favorite tracks to enjoy in rotation. The remaining tracks could be when I dwelled on past relationships with heartache and needed tunes to help heal it whole again. It could be a relatable factor when I hear the stories crooning in harmonious ways. The way KIRBY delivers her tales of needing love and desiring company gives you a pleasant feeling in knowing love is out there for everyone. I’m blessed to have found mine already, and I know music like this brings emotions to those seeking it while making you feel empowered at the same time. Especially you women that go hard for your significant other to then turn around for you to seem in deceitful light. Time will heal, and that special person will find you in the darkness and bring light to your life again.
I see that KIRBY has been receiving enthusiastic feedback from the album with even having some performance done. I hope to see her reign of success continue to happen and expect to see more of her content appear on our radar in the future. We highly recommend you check out the album here while sharing it around on all social media platforms.
