Blake Cris feat Hyndrix - Passport (Single)
On his first single of the year, Blake Cris calls on Hyndrix; the two grab their “Passport” & head for the sky, well on their way to a better life. Leaving behind anything that isn’t beneficial to them & what they got going on & not wasting any time sweating whatever trivial things may come with that, just good smoke & reflection & over some of the smoothest production imaginable.
The bars on here are so subtle; you might miss them if you’re not careful. I have a deep affinity for artists who refuse to have any sort of filler in their bars, even how he drags on the whole “I’m your father, you’re my sons” scheme, brilliantly & simply worded but flowing together with such ease & prowess. You’ll kindly take that Joe Jackson like whooping, even if you don’t need it, but he’d much rather keep the peace cause there are bigger aspirations ahead.
Blake & Hyndrix are on some grown man vibes here, with lots of nostalgia-based feels & lyrics coupled with a lot of forward-thinking, making for the perfect balance of vibes & substance for the people who think you gotta dumb down your lyrics just to make a vibe. That’s not the case here, nor will it ever be with a lyricist like Blake & if this, along with all the previous singles, will lead up to an eventual full length, well, all I can say is we here got our passports ready for wherever he wishes to take us. Still, until then, Blake will remain in full flight.
