Kerst Garcia - MarbachBaby Project (Album)

Earlier this week, I was introduced to Marbach representative, Kerst Garcia, who had released an album back in August titled “MarbachBaby Project” under his Why U Hating? imprint that I’d seen over the years growing up in my neighborhood. It’s been a while since first seeing it flood the streets around me. Still, Kerst is back into having it be a known signal throughout the blocks of San Antonio by way of his Chicano rap style that sways characteristically through his wordplay and lyricism, putting him on the map of San Antonio artistry.

The 11-track album has features from artists like SoSanAntone, Liveola & DopeHouse Record songstress Carolyn Rodriguez that mixes well into the street hustle mentality and home perseverance that Kerst relives in his raps. It’s laced with drifted production that carries well over with Kerst’s stern vocal presence that has residing verses about the weights he’s seen, the packs he’s moved, and the cash that continues to stack up in front of him. He’s making a sizeable impact in music that has drawn in much attention from the cities viewership and is represented well in the Texas culture that gives new listeners a drive to know about his history throughout this 38-minute project.

I enjoy seeing other figures from Marbach shine since it’s usually given a bad rep, but with examples like him, he’s shown that there are better ways out. You can find a craft to secure your future for the better and take it at any cost for you and yours to see better days. I respect the hustle, and for that, I show my appreciation here.
