Conway The Machine - From King To GOD (Album)

When has Griselda never not been on a roll, they always are feeding the streets & fans alike, building up the hype for the major releases in the process. Conway’s Shady Records debut is closer than we know as he drops off its long-awaited predecessor “From King To A God” God didn’t make a mistake when he made Con; he made a problem.

Keeping the production mostly in house with Daringer, Alchemist & Beat Butcha, Conway also enlists some big-name producers on his most striving for mainstream acceptance record yet. Legends like DJ Premier & Erick Sermon, Havoc & future legends like Hit-Boy & Murda Beatz. The features include, of course, his Griselda family, West, Benny, Armani (“Anza” will trip longtime Conway fans out & further solidify Armani as an MC to reckon with, the best, most out of left field in terms of style on the album). Also, El Camino and more music with Freddie Gibbs & Dej Loaf are the most surprising feature here. Again, Lloyd Banks crawled out his cave to lend a verse, Havoc a hook & Method Man, one of the dudes from the group Griselda gets compared to the most.

Conway gets even more personal on records like “Fear of God” & “Forever Droppin Tears.” However, the bars are still there even on those more introspective records, proving that Conway can be more than just the boom-bap shit they’ve become well known for these last few years. Yet, of course, he doesn’t sacrifice where he came from fully. Still, he refuses to be an artist you can box in stylistically, no matter the beat, Conway is going to deliver the rawest shipment of bars you’ve come to expect every time his name pops up on your radar. If his Shady Records debut is anything like this, which I have full faith, it will contain more of the harder shit to come out of the major label syndicate. You can always expect quality rap with these guys & it was bittersweet to hear Shay speak, he like ChineGun has always been there on the come up with these guys & it sad he went this year. Still, it’s given the guys even more of a reason to never let up with keeping their foot on the necks of the game.
