stijhl - Don’t Ruin My Good Morning (EP)

Is it just me, or does the album art draw you into listening to this album? I didn't know what to expect upon diving into this one, but that cover art was too intriguing to resist & trust me, once you enter, your mind will be taken back.

He comes through guns blazing, any intruders finding themselves under his sniper scope as he moves through the battlefield stealthily on the crushing opener "Red Dot". He's out for blood, which kinda falls in line with "Don't Ruin My Good Morning," it's a stern warning that if you do ruin his good morning, this will happen. Nobody likes to be irritated, especially in the morning, this made me feel like someone smacked my coffee out of my hand, imagine that when jumping into this one.

"Stone Garden" is the free-floating ambiance, like I've said before, I love numbers like this cause they tell you what to feel, gives off a meditative atmosphere every time. An excellent little way for him to catch a breath after murking shit without catching one on the intro. Shortly afterward, he, Groovy, GINI' & Almighty Hendrix crash the party by having their party & sadly, if you know who you are, you are not welcome. You're not even allowed to stand in the hallway with a red cup, staring at another couple making out & they have every right to rain on your parade.

On "Any Way U Wish," we find Sti, Reg Mason & GINI' stopping the floor, someone has caught their eyes & any wish they may have will be granted soon if they follow their lead. "Fireworks" may be the best cut out of these 5, such a beautiful juxtaposition in style from the fiery intro. All in all, this EP is ridiculously infectious, it's curveball after curveball, though nicely sweet & concise, exploring style after style throughout its near 12-minute run. It's a quick burst of energy & honestly; I'm going to need more soon, till then, on loop this shall stay.
