"I'm the rose that wasn't meant to make it through the night" lets the listener know, this is a man who's been through it all, yet hasn't allowed his adversity to stop him's overcome the obstacles he's had to maneuver thus far. He's prepared for any more that will inevitably attempt to stand in his way or, even worse, bring him back down to a place he once was.
