Aye Cue - The Play Palace Ch. 2 (EP)
I assume by now, all you beautiful people are tuned into “143.2 the Dream”, all you dreamers, steadily trying to reach your goals despite any adversity you may be facing. Aye Cue is here to soothe your soul & ease those troubles, so let’s follow him back into the Play Palace for another chapter.
Throughout these five cuts, Cue only raps on 2, further exemplifying that he only speaks when he has something to say, like a Phonte in that regard but once “Raw & Uncut” parades through with its triumphant horns & million man march instrumentation, his bravado & swagger instantly pull you into what he has to say, “why you 29 still asking where the hoes?”, I’m sure that’s not any of all of you tuned in.
Cue’s lyricism is steadily on the incline & his structuring is top-notch. The instrumental tracks allow the listener to reflect on everything they just heard & they are every bit as powerful as the words spoken. There’s gold within silence, but when he does have something to say, he speaks silver & all we can do is stand in awe as we witness a man balancing elegantly atop his towering steeple.
