Chris56 - on e. (Single + Video)
Chris Balderas, now going by Chris56, is back with his 4th release of this year with the alternative indie-pop sensibilities of “on e.” A pacy love ballad of sorts as he pleads with her to understand his shortcomings & tried all he could to give her the world, the life she wanted & now Chris has to watch her go. Love how this record titles the “e” being separated from “on” to signal there’s no longer togetherness & the period in front of the “e” indicates t’s come to an end. The subject matter further validates that though it’s unfortunate, he’s been feeling so lost as a result. Still, he’ll find himself soon enough, or else he’ll be headed nowhere.
She said what he’s wearing matches his tone & that seems to strike him in a way he wishes it didn’t; it’s almost like he’s not compatible with this relationship, but he does love her but is that all he is? There’s gotta be more to life than this; his relationship can’t solely define him, so he’s having to be selfish & do for him though, in his heart, he’d love to be doing for her as well, it just won’t work out & this is acceptance of that.
In the visuals, he’s out in the open to clear his mind, just riding around, away from home, far away as possible, in Cali, enjoying that skyline, that meditative afterglow, doing all I can to ease his woes. However, he’s trying his best to not dwell on what could’ve been but rather ponder on what’s about to be, what’s destined to happen for him; he’ll soon have money in banks & hopefully, that’ll bring him some sense of happiness, he wishes she was still along for the ride.
