PaintItBlues - Angel Puss (Album)

PaintitBlues 1st album in 3 years is one fiery testimonial.

Things kick off with the escapism driven lead single “Wedding Bands” and the acrimonious sermon “Behemoth” where eerie church organs and unrelenting confessionals allow Blues to claim his reign over the “demons on the phone”.

Each of these records, whether the slow burning paranoia of “Suicide”, the passionate grooves of “Riddem” (One of the most infectious records you’ll hear all year, you WILL need your boogie shoes for this one) or even the embers flowing across the ominous “New Shoes”, all have a certain fervor to them as Blues lets loose these melodic flows with such harmonious conviction, you have to be emotionless to not feel the raw vulnerability hiding underneath this glamorous depiction of himself he presents to his audience.

On “Smile (Negativity Song)”, Blues reminds listeners and foes alike that he’s still the same flawed human he’s always been and he’s never apologizing for sharing this self awareness so it’s best you not step to him with negativity (“Margiela Gats”).

People too often mistake these artists for something they’re not, they feel entitled as if they owe them anything, they feel they can press who they believe is just a caricature for their entertainment but Blues warns these people that if you step to him, things could get ugly, you won’t see it coming cause his weapon matches his designer, camouflage, brilliant !

Things close with him questioning the faith he was raised on, asking god to either be on his side or not, he’s drained from all the blood sweat and tears he’s given to his Lord only to receive not much if anything return.

This is Blues most open work to date, an emotional plea for forgiveness and a vow to never conform, no matter the circumstances.
