Wave Tribe - Wake Up (Album)

A Tribe called Wave has been on our recent radar since the wave of their first single, "Tree High," caught our attention. Then next came the splash in the suave hit "Blessing," which sealed the deal to us that the ATX duo are here to make an impact. They doubled down on their singles' success and gave us a tsunami in Texas to endure during this holiday season in an album titled "Wake Up" that I believe has a double meaning for the duo.

The theory could be on point, or it could be all be from this joint I'm chiefing on right now. Still, I believe the title refers to enjoying the morning with this “Wake Up” material that will get your day started like a fresh roast of coffee preparing for your daily regime ahead. I believe it's called Wake Up because of the lack of attention they get from listeners of the genre. These two artists have the potential to uplift a structured sound in Austin, where we've seen plenty of examples of how incredible talent from the city has emerged throughout the world. Still, these two gifted lyricists want to give it more. They want to wake those up from sleeping on them and seeing that prospective rise from the bottom to the top before your itching your head months from now, not knowing why you didn't appreciate the greatness when it was in front of you.

That goes along well with the intro skit "Wake Up Austin," which sounds like an early FM station awakening you up for the day before the peak to their fan-favorite record "Long Time." It explains everything that I mentioned before that they got all the time in the world to showcase their craft. You're going to witness their glory for a long time so let's get these listeners still sleeping on the duo woken up with the rest of the project. "Phase U.S." is an insane track, and I think that's due to the production by Malik that rocked this beat with some crazy drums and samples to have the Wave Tribe garnish this entree to well-done perfection. The project sounds like a feast, perfect for the Thanksgiving season to have it marinated in the daily eatery by producers The Mask, Harry G, Kydd Jones, DenzBeats, Mason Flynt & Platzus. Having it, all consumed under positivity nourishments with friends and family gathered around (social distancing in effect, of course). The project features have vocals by Aisha, eccentric rhymes from Mama Dukes & fresh crooning from TEDDYTHELEGACY that match well with the Wave Tribe's style to excel together with well-worthy hits that just seem too easy for the two to create. There are similar tones and formats of artists like Casey Veggies, Rockie Fresh, Pac Div, and Dom Kennedy in the mixtape era, yet that you can hear that throughout the project that have this combination of art transcribed perfectly well and have it transition to their own wave that separated them from most of their peers in the city. Their deliverance is unmatched, which keeps them rocking to make significant waves (no pun intended) at the start of the new year.

Following up on the project's release, they have a visual to "Blessing" dropping later today with Peter LaFlame behind the visuals releasing around 7 pm. Be on the lookout for that, and while you are waiting, make sure you introduce someone to Wave Tribe by putting them on to their debut album, Wake Up, and having them stream it here and shearing it around on all social media platforms.
