Saint Lyor - This Is Not An Image (Video)
A bit late to the party, but we're in here now enjoying ourselves thanks to our newsfeed on social media. We recently just got introduced to Brockton, Massachusetts, emcee Saint Lyor by way of his most recent visual titled "This Is Not An Image." Coasting with a melodious vibrato, he's able to pack a series of zealous raps that reflect his intricate style. The record is off his 2020 project "If My Sins Could Talk," in which I had more than enough time to get familiar with the Van Buren Records founding member's album that I found to be an enlightening listening experience.
The future will be televised, and so will the visual here directed by Noah Weisfogel, who sets the channel to a talk show environment. It surfs through multiple cuts that showcase the eccentric elements of the creative direction Saint don’t want no fufu in his pictures, and if the girl he's riding with got the cake, he's trying to mix it. If she's singing a tune, then his endowed member is remixing it. Too hot when he's stepping out, and he's creating Armageddon, if he wants, Saint is going to get it, and he does it with the greatest weapon: his mind. Just a few first lines of the track, and it has me hooked already. The video creates this visual scape of his nonchalant demeanor while spitting some of the most vicious lines. Can't fake the funk with all the things he knows, Saint Lyor stays versatile through his villainous wordplay that constructs a lyrical barrage to the release that set off an incredible first impression.
After hearing the album through multiple sessions, Saint Lyor is easily on my radar for 2021, and his record labelmates are also on the bill. You'll see soon enough because, at the same time, I was also introduced to another record that will shortly appear on the site later today. In the meantime, please get familiar with Saint Lyor by checking out his visual here and sharing it around on all social media platforms.
