On this track, Arizé takes a pacified focus to the simpler things of life behind a Caribbean infused R&B sonic canvas. “Roaches” carries a tender and soothing vibe through the instrumental that thoroughly fuses with callbacks and reminiscing aspects Arizé touches on. From coasting on ordinary neighborhood car rides with his homies to present day life where his motivation is now focused on driving to success on the path of his artistic venture.
Arizé flows steadily through his verses and shows versatility not only on his writing but also his rhyme-scheme with his ability to resolutely knit his words together. I also appreciate his clever and leisure approach and play on a double entendre on the word “Roaches”.
Between the song name, lyrics and message of the song, Arizé not only references roaches in means of smoking, but metaphorically compares the negatives in life to small and pestering insects we should sway and toss out of our way. “Roaches” is a reminder to shelve the struggles we face, big or small and lose yourself to the beauty and simple things in life, if only for minute, just live in the moment.
