twohorizonra & Tony Tone - Folk Rap (Album)
After numerous teases of an upcoming collaboration between twohorizonra and Tony Tone, a project titled “Folk Rap” has finally surfaced. Eager hip-hop fans anticipated the sonic fusion of these two emcees, who delivered back-to-back bars intending to bring something wicked to the scene. This project is a treat for fans of creativity and innovation. It has quickly become one of my favorite releases of the month and will undoubtedly receive much-deserved recognition in the upcoming weeks, furthering its success.
The project opens with a robust and soulful essence in the intro titled “Strickland,” produced by Keysun. The production floats nicely with raps from Tony Tone and twohorizonra, who are in prestigious form, launching off with prime power in their lyricism. I love the subtle nod to the Mike Judge-created show “King of the Hill” mentioned in the lyrics, which inspires the title. Reaching beyond patios of content to a remarkable shift in clutching an audience to get more of their soul to speak in volume will conquer significantly in your next listening experience of this incredible album. Both emcees, Tony Tone, and twohorizonra, showcase a seamless collaboration. They don't overshadow each other, and even in moments where their verses overlap, they manage to stay in sync and complement each other perfectly. I enjoyed the diverse sounds throughout each track, from the calm reigns of “Marriot Lounge” that sit you right up to enjoy the ride to other records that evoke a more terrestrial state. The track “Trash” immerses you in an ambient, out-of-this-world experience, by way of production from Por Vida, while maintaining pressure in the production. Tony Tone and twohorizonra go head-to-head with impressive skills, showcasing a truly competitive performance in their raps.
It sounds like both twohorizonra & Tony Tone go beyond surface-level content and manage to deeply connect with the audience, offering a profound and soulful experience. This album seems to promise a remarkable listening experience that captures the essence of his artistry.
