Naalah - Last October (EP)
For her birthday, Naalah gifted her fans, who eagerly awaited new music, with a two-piece project titled "Last October." In this project, she addresses the gaps in her absence and the creative awakening she has experienced. The singles explore a period marked by writer's block and doubt while delving into her thought process, touching on the sacrifices of time and patience that have impacted her energy. Despite these challenges, the process has led to the creation of some of her best material yet.
In the first single, titled "Lost Off The Art," Naalah expresses her initial thoughts and emotions as she reconnects with her creativity. The song delves into her experience of cutting herself off from the world, capturing the raw and unfiltered thoughts that emerge as she puts pen to paper for the first time. Reflecting on the changes she's undergone, Naalah sees a different person than she used to be, realizing she has been feeding too much into her creativity and not enough into her soul. Despite this imbalance, she acknowledges that there's no price she would accept to trade her creativity for wealth or other assets. It's the fuel that keeps her going, even when it seems lost to her at times. Her passion remains unwavering, and she has no urge to stop anytime soon. Naalah doesn’t shy away from showing her emotions in her music. She welcomes listeners to get to know her more deeply and hopes the music reflects her feelings and experiences. Through her songs, she aims to provide a genuine glimpse into her soul, inviting fans to connect with her on a personal level. In her second single, "Checking For Me," Naalah questions the urgency with which people seek her out when they need her, contrasting it with their absence when she needs them. The song delves into themes of reliability and the imbalance in relationships, highlighting the frustration and hurt of being there for others while feeling unsupported in return. She dives into the hate she receives, which stems from the insecurity of her opposition. Naalah stands firm in her resolve, ensuring her unique style is never undermined. Instead, she uses the criticism as a foundation to stand tall, proving her resilience and strength through her music.
Naalah is more vital than ever; I believe this is the calm before the storm. She has much more to say, and I'm sure the music will be worth the wait. We have two records to hold us over and dissect before diving into her next release.
