Tealwaves - Last Ride (Single)
When it comes to the world of indie rock and new alternative sound, Tealwaves is a band that comes to mind. Being a by-product and wave of new creative emergence of the pandemic, Tealwaves is a project from Austin, Texas that brings familiar sounds while delivering a new, full sonic experience with their music. On their latest track, “Last Ride” is a moment of self-reflection—wanting to move forward while the past constricts you.
Ever since Tealwaves made their way into my song circuit with their latest EP Say That Again? in 2023, the band has released a number of new indie anthems that are under the radar. “Last Ride” is the latest to the lineup, where they paint a picture of the past that manifests itself as ghost of the self. “I need the coast, The one that makes me feel it / I’ve just seen my ghost, It has a hold of my neck / I’m barely breathing.” Tealwaves creates an infectious hook, referencing these moments of self-reflection with past habits, negative thoughts and emotions that tend to latch and haunt oneself.
The five-piece alternative have such a fresh, captivating sound that creates a nostalgic listening experience. Their creative writing style gives micro-reflections, glimpses into the minds of early life experiences with love, drugs, and self—navigating to be free of these issues on the “Last Ride.”
