Baby Bash & The Bashtones - Souldies Nation (Album)
Like they told you on their previous effort/debut, these “Souldies Are Forever” & Baby Bash, along with the Bashtones are here to make the world a “Souldies Nation” with their sophomore compilation. This project, curated by the great Baby Bash, consists of nothing but beautiful Latin artists, singers, musicians that you possibly may have never even heard of but the music they continue to create is nonetheless as timeless as it gets. If you’re a fan of those oldies, which who isn’t, then these records are a beautifully nostalgically tinged modernist twist on that era of music. Opening up with the self proclaimed Silent Giant of the Bashtones, Joey Cota’s vocals soothe you just like the indica he’s rolling up. Imagine rolling one up, getting your hair trimmed up by him cause he is also a barber if you didn’t know. We should feel so lucky to be blowing that good good to records like this. It’s only right to open up the project with a record like this, being that Bash is one of the top connoisseurs of the marijuana game. His voice is just so iconic.
“Before I Met You” will make the ladies swoon so gracefully. If you’re not familiar with the RoneyBoys, they are a trio of brothers who’ve been crooning & stealing all the girlies hearts since being discovered by the legendary Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis back when they went viral in 2011 after covering the Bruno Mars smash “The Lazy Song”. Only kids at the time, Israel, Issac & Ian now open up your third eye to how far they’ve taken this music thing. Not only are they all incredible singers but they’re playing all their own instruments as well! Those oldie vibes only continue to soothe your soul once veteran musician Rueben Moreno comes through to show you what his heart is all about. He too has been seasoned in this music thing since he was a child. The Grammy Award winning San Bernardino legend Bobby Ross Avila comes through to deliver another soulful classic to his beautiful discography with “Only You”. Isn’t it beautiful to see a legend like him not lose an ounce of his soul, after all this time in the game!?
We salsa dancing cause it takes two to tango on the Audic Empire laced “Spicy Margarita”. What a way to describe one of those fine mamis you may spot cruising around. Baby Bash’s even lends some of his own words to this number, ensuring that she will no doubt be hopping in the whip with them. We’ve gotten a plethora of male musicians & singers throughout this project so it’s nice to hear from the ladies on this Claudia Liz number, especially with how sweet it is. It’s just beautiful to hear a woman wanting to be so down for her love on “Here For You”. Of course, what’s a Baby Bash project without the great Frankie J. Now I know full well that’s a name you recognize on “Here We Go Again” with another one of them ones. It’s no “Suga Suga” nor should you expect it to be but it’s Frankie so you can’t go no wrong! Closing out this project ever so delicately with my personal favorite off this project is the earnest “Me Plus You” with the youngin’ Mikey Jimenez, which, who wouldn’t wanna be with an old soul as passionate as he is? Overall, this project is as timelessly gorgeous as it gets. Any lover of music will want this added to their collection immediately.
