Pierce Washington - 2 Piece Special (Homecoming ) (EP)
If it’s Pat Ron approved, then it’s got to be something good, as earlier in the week, the “Never Another This Fly” emcee shared his acquiescence of Pierce Washington’s “2 Piece Special” EP on his Instagram story that intrigued me off the rip where I instantly found myself gravitating to the storytelling and lyrical grip of the project that easily is better than most artist’s full-length albums. With the poised production curated by Michael Ferguson in both joints, Pierce Washington doesn’t skip a beat when enduring two records that are a must for any hip-hop connoisseur to enjoy.
In the opening record, “Open House,” Michael lets the beat build off this soulful essence. Then immediately as it started, Pierce begins to unravel a soothing set of bars, too smooth for your favorite rapper to comprehend and just the right amount of prominent energy for the real to understand. From the swaying effect in his wordplay to speaking to women on her glorious features and persuading her that his intentions are pure. She hasn’t had a man like him before, and that’s because there isn’t a man like him; his suave demeanor puts her at ease. He’s slick with wordplay and cunning, and it doesn’t mean he’s soft; check the next record if you think so. First off, the beat is excellent; like alcohol in the 20s, it’s nothing to be fucked with; Michael Ferguson laced this production with immaculate intent, and with Pierce on the delivering end with the raps, you can only hope he leaves the beat breathing, but I doubt it. Onslaught with lyrical ambition in his vocal cords, Pierce Washington, comes swinging for the fences and takes the loot in the front, and runs out the back with this record here. No need for witnesses as he ducks down with the rhapsodic arsenal and takes out every competition left in his area. There’s a reason this freestyle is named “Danger,” and like that, he concludes the record with many listeners like myself anticipating more.
I’m glad the introduction came when it did; I have the rest of my year to look forward to seeing both Pierce & Michael showcase their talents. If it’s solo work, I’m with it, and if it’s a collaborative effort, I’m on board. Either way, I need something soon. In the meantime, we recommend getting started in getting familiar with Pierce Washington by checking out his EP here and sharing it around on all social media platforms.
