ImaniCarolyn - Into The Blue Light (Album)
Since coming across her 2021 self-titled EP, ImaniCarolyn has surprised us with her talents, from constructing beautiful ballads with her soulful voice to being such an amazing soul with grace in her words. She’s the epitome of peaceful energy anytime you dig into her music; she’s able to surface so many emotions in her music that it reaches parts that you feel like we’re no longer there. She’s a special kind of talent that doesn’t come around often, but when it does, it’s something we should cherish and dedicate recognition to any time we come across it. Since her EP release, Imani has blessed us with singles gearing towards her anticipated debut album. She locked herself away in the studio and got to writing by ensuring every minute of her time was appointed to get this music out for existing listeners to witness her growth and introduce new fans to something they’ve been missing out on experiencing. At last, after months of hard work and perfecting her sound, ImaniCarolyn was ready to present us her album, “Into The Blue Light.” The 15-track album is laced with miraculous vocals throughout and is beautifully constructed with a divine substance that will surely keep you listening to it over and over again.
Presenting this album with such energetic ambiance, Imani Carolyn begins with her potent bop titled “Playboy” to get us welcoming the blue hue of her light entering into our hearts. Don’t switch up the groove; aim to please her for the night. She’s one hell of a dime with her heart on her sleeve, so don’t waste her time; she isn’t the same girl you remember, she’s been through some changes, and if you play your cards right, you’ll get to see them. She understands his lifestyle when it comes to women can be picky like a playboy, but she knows he’ll fall over heels for what she’s serving for the evening; she’s done playing games; there isn’t any façade or gimmicks; she’s putting it out there for you to get hooked on it so don’t go messing it up. Imani Carolyn sways over the waves in these records; she spills so much of her heart & soul in these ballads. Some of the highlights for me were on her track, “Feelin Bad For Me,” which shared some of her insecurities. She feels like she isn’t cool enough for you since you point your attention to certain women on Instagram. She tried fitting in their role, but it didn’t feel right to her; now, her time is crumbling from staying busy with her personal life while still making time to create memories with you. She’s put herself in the ringer for you, not eating or sleeping, feeling like she’s running out of self-esteem to keep up with your needs. She wants to know if you feel lonesome without her and if you have the same craving for her need when you are away. She’s feeling down with not knowing these things; she wants you to tell her so she’s sure you aren’t playing with her emotions. It’s a deep record where we Imani pours everything out on it, we understand the fear of not knowing someone's true feelings for you, and here she grasps that emotion so perfectly that we can’t help but wonder & weep.
Another record that feel timeless for me is “Omni’s Interlude,” which feels like the passionate single that helped construct the album’s journey. She mentions the title name in the intro of the ballad, and she sings heavenly for you to free her by stepping into the moonlight. Take her for who she is and lead her into the sea to be ignited with your light; it’s the start of something unique that will see you & her into the blue. An incredible set of tracks, with not one dull moment through it all, we got to see Imani's spark become so much brighter in this album. She even joined forces with great features like Sticky, Cameron McCloud & her aunt, SZA. They welcomed a beautiful addition to their record while still uplifting Imani’s presence at the moment. I know we briefly discussed before that Imani would have some big shoes to fill with her aunt being who she is, but it’s safe to say there won’t be any problem there. Ain’t no shadow cast over her, ImaniCarolyn has solidified herself to be the next great thing in music without no co-signs attached; her music speaks to people and is cherished by all. She will get by off the strength of her sound and her willingness to be one of the most prominent up & comers in music currently.
ImaniCarolyn has been basking in the praise & accomplishments her album has gotten so far; I’m sure there is more to come for her in the upcoming months, including the release of a visual she shot during her time away. I’m looking forward to the drop, as y’all should be too, but in the meantime, we highly recommend that you check out her debut album here while sharing it on all social media avenues.
