Deante’ Hitchcock - Everyday The 14th (EP)
Off the top, I was unfamiliar with Deante Hitchcock when I first engaged to his newest EP titled “Everyday The 14th”. What drew me in was the familiar faces of his feature on the illustrious project, which were known artists that have come up many times in our reviews: Dende, Bairi, & Chris Patrick. Their presence led me to the project, yet don’t get it twisted now; I wasn’t just here for them. I knew this had to be some soulful essence sounds in this project if they appeared on here, and sure enough, when the intro hit, I was pleased with the vibrancy that I made every effort to make sure this EP got my fullest attention while I broke down every sound throughout my listening experience.
To start this review, I got to talk about the cover art, which truly sets the mood for this project. As mentioned before, the introduction was a strong start; the choir-inspired sound captures a vibe that puts it in motion perfectly when heading into the next record. I had heard “Neck Up” before the rest of the project due to seeing the comical visual release days before; even then, we enjoyed the flourished nature of Deante’s full-fledged melody mixed with the energy of not needing intimacy but rather some oral fixation to correct his chakras for the day. Provided with additional vocals by Dende & Bairi to make this a sensational release that fits nicely on the EP. It expresses deep range, especially when we get to the DaVionne & JaelSpeaks-feature record “Eyes On Me” that mystifies a wonderment feeling in both the crooning and vocalization delivered by all three talents. The outro track “Don’t Say” is that summer feeling hit, makes you want to enjoy a sunny day which in Texas we ain’t getting too much of that, so we got this track to help us appreciate that feeling. Don’t say you're going to go; they can’t take that kind of rejection right now, so there willing to do what they can for you to stay. Chris Patrick & ELHAE do the track justice while serving up leads for Deante’ to take the course in bringing this project up at the peak of R&B’s upper echelon.
Four tracks only, but it’s some of the best music we’ve heard in a while, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for Deante Hitchcock, but best believe we’ll be there supporting anything that hits our radar from him. Be sure to check out the EP here and make sure to share it around on all social media platforms.
