Lady London - Lady Like: The Boss Tape (Album)

Can we just take a second to applaud all the women we’ve been seeing just take over the game, let alone rap circles around this mostly male dominated culture? I feel like this is the most women we’ve seen running around at the same time just running shit to the point where, the men may become the minority, we technically are at this point. Love that Lady chose to open this compilation tape with her “Viral” acapella cause she just got that unique voice as she just nonchalantly is murdering with every bar, no filler. I was sold on her before I even heard her spit, due to her relation to the legendary Chino XL, which, if that’s your lineage, then there’s no doubt in my mind you’re a killer lyrically & that she is.

Though technically not an album, more so a compilation of all her various freestyles, it’s still a great treat for any fans of Hip Hop. I know most dudes have their reservations about females in Hip Hop & my response to them is fuck them, especially if they hear her incessant skills throughout this tape & still try to pretend like she’s not beating them senseless at their own game. She can hold her own alongside the best of them & this tape will only bring her more closer towards working alongside the legends she grew up on but I love that she’s remaining the focal point, not overshadowed by any features & the features that are on this tape, stand out gracefully.

This is definitely a tape I’m gonna be studying for quite some time, there’s just far too many bars & I know as much as I’ve heard this already, there’s still a lot that are flying over my head like lead balloons. There’s a lot of women rapping now but not a lot of them are rhyming at a level this elite & effortlessly at that. She’s her own style but she takes me back to when I was listening to MC’s like Jean Grae heavily, imagine them two on a track? Lady London is only gonna continue to keep her foot on their necks, that heel just crushing the larynxes of these weaker MC’s, let alone mean who think they can fuck with a boss like her. Also make sure to peep her tape with Murille if you wanna hear more of this impeccable lyricist cause she’s as dope as it gets, “I Kant Make This Shit Up”.
