Kenny Casanova - Mercury In Water (Album)
Heading towards the end of July, Kenny Casanova released his first project release of 2021, titled "Mercury In Water." The 12-tracks parades a series of eccentric raps from Kenny & provides an onslaught of intergalactic vibrancy that infuses nicely with the boisterous production to keep floating upon the moon & stars during your listening experience.
Entering with his signature avant-garde status to keep it live & flexing throughout his rhymes, the intro record "4th Room" is just the beginning of this wild ride that will excite you the more you walk into the capricious sounds. This nice jazzy sample floats over the anomalous efforts of Kenny, who always keep the beat pushing with having an abnormal sense of style when it comes to his pen game. He's definitely one of my favorite doing it since you can hear the inspiration of artists like ODB & Busta Rhymes, whose style we're unconventional, but damn if they make some of the best sounding joints. Take his "Space X" & "Zoom" records; both have a different direction in sound, yet the whimsical way he shows off his stealer energy in both tracks showcase his valiant effort to go against the grain. He's a product of his own creation instead of some clone, which most rappers sought out to do. Other highlights of this technique would be in tracks like "Grimey" & the WiFiGawd-featured track "Same Shit," where he boasts a level of wit & flair when expressing his approach to the production. The production is also a bridge to this style since the characteristic sounds of phonk & nuance help him divulge into this method with well end results when seeing how far his rapping abilities take him. Kenny Casanova is a rare being, & this is displayed on numerous occasions throughout this project. He's alienated himself from Earth and is looking to travel past the planets to find a new place to indulge his talent in.
The project was an incredible way to give us an update on Kenny Casanova & what he's been doing. I enjoyed his 2020 EP "Sweet Aromatic" very much and think his successor here was a great follow-up to it. We hope he has plans to release more music later in the year but of course, no rush on it. We have this album to hold us over until then, and it's enough for us. Be sure to check out the latest project from Kenny Casanova here while sharing it around on all social media outlets.
