Tech N9ne - Take Your Halo (Single)
"You either die a hero, or you live long enough to become the villain," that's one of Tech's mantras & it is very accurate. It's a shame how people turn their backs on you after a while & over silly things; Tech has been dealing with a lot of that for a while now & similar to Eminem, who he as well has put up with a lot of that nonsense from fair-weather fans, is finally clapping back at them. To be completely honest, I'm glad he did cause some of the things, most notably a particular incident he mentioned back on his 2012 EP "E.B.A.H." on the record "A Real 1". At some point in time, these people must be held accountable for the shit that comes out of their mouth, for them even thinking they could fix their lips. Tech reacts like I'm sure any human in his position would.
It's kind of a double-edged sword he's created here, cause, on one hand, I'm sure those fans he's speaking about are offended, maybe even flattered cause something tells me that all their incessant poking at him has given them the results they were hoping for; their precious little clout. Still, at the same time, it has that old school Tech feel, kinda reminds me of his 2001 classic "Breathe" but of course, it is its own beast, he's just taking his halo & going home, a spin on the taking my ball & going home phrase, he's not allowing the evil to take it from him, people just don't like to see you up & doing more than they ever could, they build you up just to tear you back down, sometimes literally & that's why Tech takes the shit fans say really seriously cause looks at what happened to Dimebag Darrell & Selena, many others as well, John Lennon, Christina Grimmie, Tech will be damned if he dies at the hands of another being, he stated this back on 2015's "On The Bible" & it's heartbreaking that he still has to address nonsense like this cause people are simply crazy enough to take it far beyond the music just cause they don't agree with what they think Strange should be.
Tech even addresses any former artists slandering the label with everything he & his business partner did to elevate these artists. Still, I'm not going to say any names, but I'm sure fans have heard a lot in the past years. There was an instance where this happened earlier this year & it's finally gotten back to Tech, which he's not standing for it, so if anybody has a problem, they can come to bring that shit to the table. Come talk to him like a man, face to face instead of this negative energy you're spreading around, which is unnecessary, by the way. The entitlement these artists have needed to take itself elsewhere cause Tech will not allow any of it to infiltrate & disrupt his peace; he's always been a humble dude, but every now & then, he just gotta put on that "Red Nose" & show them that Clown is not to be toyed with.
