Gutty - Wide Eyed And Hopeless (EP)

Gutty is here for the sheer sport of it & we’re all here for it as well. In just a short amount of time, he’s proven time & time again that he’s well on his way to becoming a heavyweight lyricist. His wit is insurmountable & not only can he rap his ass off, but he can also turn around & get so beautifully introspective; it’s a great contrast to exhibiting on this little two-song EP. He’s “wide-eyed & hopeless,” but he’s still the “same dude,” no matter where he’s inevitably headed, far up it seems.

Doing you should always be your only resolution, don’t waste your life away working menial jobs for shit pay; I mean, get your money but don’t piss away your time stressing over things that don’t ultimately matter in terms of the journey you’re on. As for Gutty, he’s just going so fast doing what he loves that he hasn’t taken much time to reflect on how far he’s come from where he once was, sounding ever so grateful that he’s no longer down bad in such a rut of a position.

I love that on “same dude,” he takes a single minute to reflect; it’s so poignantly concise. It’s bittersweet as can be & just like that, it’s over. The emotions can hurt a little too much, so he’d much rather get back to keeping his nose to the grindstone. Occupied in dreams that are surely soon to be a reality if they aren’t that already but regardless, Gutty will continue pushing his pen. It’s that skill that we expect to continue to see him stand firmly on, it has to be routine at this point, but he’s sitting in it comfortably.
