AJ Snow - Mr. Fresh (EP)
It’s instantly a celebration upon jumping into Aj Snow’s latest opus “Mr. Fresh”, the sound is immediately as fresh as having the wind at your back whilst standing on a mountaintop. I’d say he’s hit his peak with this record, after years of putting in work, which more than deserves your revisiting, he finishes off another year, chock full of releases as strongly as it started. The production on “Champagne On Me” instantly pulls you in & once he starts speaking with the utmost classiness, detailing his sheer enjoyment of life at this current moment, especially considering how hard life has hit him but he never lost his sense of determination, in fact, it seems to have only fueled his flame.
When it comes to his hustle, he has “Too Many Ways”, which is obviously smart, why wouldn’t you want to have several sources of revenue coming your way? That’s the goal really, not to look down on employees but who doesn’t want to be their own boss, the thing is, not everybody is willing to put in the work like he has. He’s not selfishly doing it all though, it’s all for his people, like his mother & grandma, rest her soul so I can only imagine how annoying it must’ve been to be harassed by those who should be protecting, they just don’t like seeing beautiful people succeed but you can’t let it phase you, nothing stops this hustle.
He’s on his playa shit whenever he’s “Fuckin’ With It”, always important to have those records that’ll make the ladies swoon & he ain’t even need to croon, what’s more playa than that! The playa shit continues on “Stick Around” where he brings in Conrad Jr & Arsenio McQueen to slide across this elating number ever so gracefully, the women have got to be fainting at this point. It’s all good though cause he has just the elixir to revive them with his very own “Playas Punch”. He’s talking some truth on this one & I’m not sure those lames he’s speaking on have the mental capacity to handle him putting them in their place, it’s gotta sting.
I can’t imagine how envious they must be having to see the ones they let get away now “Sittin’ On Chrome” with he, Tyler Reese & Cuzin Jiggy like boy, does that sound & look like a good time, why can’t I be this cool? It’s not something you can learn over time I feel, I feel like you just have it or you don’t, you can’t force it & he doesn’t, he’s just smooth it, when was the last time you asked your woman or someone you were trying to speak to for a dance? I’d be swooning & fainting all over again if I were that woman, that’s some real gentleman shit right there & you just gotta admire how respectfully elegant he is whenever he opens his mouth to say anything, to anyone so “Thank You Mr. Fresh” for yet another opus to add to your ever growing archive, a lot of timeless soundscapes on this one for me personally!
