Tren$etta - Uppage Vol.1 (EP)

On his 2nd EP of the year, Tren$etta’s wounds seem to have healed in the time between then & this new release, he sounds instantly confident, so confident that the music is not even doing much, it’s still banging but everything about it is monotone & I believe that’s so you can really listen & heed what he has to say on the first volume of “Uppage”. We open with some groovy samples that then bleed into some smooth, head nodding production & Tren just sounds so classy over it, even though what he’s addressing is some real spill. I even love the title of it cause it even sounds dismissive, just further proving his point that money don’t mix well with certain people, once they see you doing better than them, they take issue with it & might even do shit out of spite for you but Tren ain’t really phased by any of this, he’s just choosing to address it then walk away from it, no love lost.

His ear for production on here is so elegant, as we continue to hear on “Vanilla Crown”, it’s not in your face, it’s just very easy listening that makes you more prone to really letting his lyricism seep into your ear canals. He had some good people in his corner who shared with him, their wisdom that has continue to aid him on his musical journey, he’s never not been determined & the game he’s spitting here will surely get you back on track if you ever lose yourself along your way, it’s introspective motivation at its finest. There’s “Always More” than meets the eye, he’s not just the trendsetter, a human is much more complex than that so he invites you in to know a little more but not too much cause why would he tell on himself, he’d much rather be by his lonely.

I think this man just gave me another mantra I could use, “I don’t pretend nor front because this in me, not on me”, tell me you’ve never heard anything more realer than that & the nonchalant bravado he delivers those lines with let’s you know that he’s basically the OG in the room so you better sit down & learn young man. The whole record speaks to those who really need to hear it, me included cause I have caught myself envious of others at times when my life wasn’t as great as it could be, mad at everybody like it’s their fault instead of looking within myself for the answers as to why my life ain’t going according to plan.

Even how he took something we’ve all been told but explaining how differently it resonated with him, proving he was always born for this. This is “Pain Music”, music that discusses all the trials & tribulations he’s had to endure on this emotional musical journey of his that he’s still embarking on, with his rider right beside him. He too was like many of us, came from nothing & endured so much hardships only to come out on top in the end due to his incessant determination to be somebody & his girl clearly always saw the potential in him since she stuck by him all this time, now she gets to enjoy these laboring fruits with him. As I always say, it can only up!
