Mega Ran - Live ‘95 (Album)
New music was great last week, with content from NorthsideBenji, Big Sean, Wale & many more surfacing right before the weekend came. Still, one of my favorite pieces came from a recommendation via Richie Branson’s Twitter, where he had shared the latest album from Mega Ran titled “Live 95’”. The project cover showcase Mega Ran in his Sunday’s finest, accompanied with a hat like he’s being drafted in the NBA and what we're receiving in this project is his road to the finals in hopes to be getting the championship at the end of it all.
Now I need to start with praising Mega Ran for obtaining the voice of NBA Jam, NFL Blitz, MLB Slugfest, plus many more, Tim Kitzrow, to begin this album with his vibrant vocals that he brings to the games and topping it off with a BOOMSHAKALAKA before Mega Ran burst upon the scene with a barrage of soulful rhymes that delivers the astonishing side of his adolescent years to now. Hoop dreams were made to inspire kids like him, me, and many others who always dream of playing in the NBA among some of the greatest players. I grew up thinking I was going to score a triple-double in the Alamodome or dunk and break the backboard in the garden, which never happened, but content like this makes those dreams turn reality. He’s writing this into his “Basketball Diaries” of the game he hoped to be in but is now on the sideline of admiration, making plays and scores in a different field of the game. Hearing the champion in his voice with joints like “Comeback Player Of The Year” & the Mickey Factz, Alfred Banks, Medaforacle, CZARFACE-assisted track “Fab Five” go through a victory lap in being a shining example of Mega Ran’s ability to be a lyrical threat on the mic. The come-up is fundamental for Mega Ran, especially when diving in a wholehearted record like “1995”. He mimics the start of many players' careers to his own and reminisces about watching it on the TV, hoping to be in the same spot someday. He’s devised an extraordinary outlook of his creativity while mixing in his effervescent characteristic to reach beyond the stars in bringing alive this 13-track album to be a favorite of the year.
We’ve been familiar with Mega Ran for a while and are glad to be featuring him on the site finally. If you are not hip to the almighty powerhouse that is Mega Ran, be sure to start now by checking out his latest album and sharing it around on all social media avenues.
