HellCat! feat Corbin Reece - Deathwish (Single)
During the weekend, Hellcat released her first record of the new year titled "Deathwish," where she enlisted Corbin Reece to assist in bringing forward a dark ambiance tone to the track. It's mysterious with haunting verses added in by the pair & the melancholy rhythmic sounds so beautifully stricken for a dope listening experience to play repeatedly.
The production by Hellcat is what drew me in immediately since I got Portishead vibes from the sinister intro. It mixes in a 90's underground sound of an eerie shift over some scratches before hitting the drums that elevate to Corbin Reece's verse. Goddamn, he's fresh, got a Nintendo N E S, inviting this girl over for a bit of sext, and while it's not at the top of the list for the night, maybe 5th on it, which isn't that bad since it gives him time to ice out his wrist. Flexing on a night just like this while having this special girl on his mind, he doesn't need any thoughts in his head to keep dwelling on since she's all he needs in his life. He captures this wicked essence with his lo-fi tone that sounds like diamonds dropping into water, that's smooth and clean if you think about it. Something is lurking out for you in the shadow; no way it's deathwish as the chorus starts nailing down the coffin to awaken the slumber of the beast incarnate that is the diabolical sergeancy of Hellcat floating through this single like a hellish hex. Nike on her feet, but she's counting all her blessings, praying for direction mainly for the bread, and could ask for more cheese in the mix. She's wild with the wordplays and even crazier with her verse; she's looking for heaven to cause a little bit of mayhem in, and that's what happens when you add chaos to preaching wisdom. She spits that real shit, and there's no doubting that after this track here.
My favorite collaboration so far in 2021, no bullshit, this production is something that I can't stop talking about then adding these two artists to the record is the day that hell broke loose. Highly recommend you check out the track here while sharing it around on all social media platforms.
