Opaque Ghost - Hues (Album)

First off, I think the title to this record is brilliantly contradictory to the band name; "Hues" marks the debut album from the indie alternative collective, rhythmically infectious from start to finish. The band lays all their cards on the table, reminding us of a time where this subgenre of rock was dominating, which is still very much alive & well, so as long as bands like these are around putting out quality records.

It's almost a time portal for me when this is the type of music that was defining my life, it still does to a certain extent, at least when great albums like this hit my radar. It's reminiscent of that angst that still lives inside of us or at least the kid inside all of us; I can picture myself ditching school to throw my headphones on & smoke hella weed to this, maybe take some acid for an ultimate feel-good experience.

In just under 30 minutes, the band plays to its strengths, the vocals ethereally almost hidden within the instrumentation's crunchy rhythms. College radio stations would eat this record up; standouts include "Something Sentimental," "Avalanche," & "Spacecraft," prepare to evoke your rebelliousness with this record.
