Yung Lou - Forever (Album)

The third installment from Yung Lou's journey proves to be one of the most well constructed, musically polished, and lyrically inclined piece of work. Young Lou is here to stay, and everyone is welcome to join on the festivities. This album is the perfect balance of Lou's usual tales of love but also contains his most personal work to date. Introspection is always a good look on an artist, and it's not like he wasn't open, it's just more present on this album.

Now this is how you start a fucking album by claiming your spot, Lou been putting in work for over a decade so it’s fitting that he opens up this record staking his claim in the game with raw conviction & a level of adamancy to strive for more. Sounding the furthest from complacent, “On It” with stellar appearances from Ant Fisher & Alamo Andretti will satiate long time fans of Lou, the auto tune haze of the overwhelmingly celebratory “Forever” featuring the legendary Lucky Luciano, these two make nothing short of magic when they link. A surprise Kevin Gates feature on “On My Own”, probably one of his best too, Yung Lou inspired him to do his thug thizzle on the slow burning ode to independence, there’s Bay Area hyphy with “Like I Do” for sure to tear up the clubs, pop tinged R&B “Right for Me”, there’s a lot of different sounds to enjoy here.

“Been So Long” has surprise features as well but I’ll let you figure them out, it’s the best song on the record, intended for those late night overthinking drives. Lots of love lost throughout this album but just as much is found by the end of it which ends as celebratory as it started. Lou makes music to inspire & uplift, “The Way I’m Living Life” will for sure ease the self doubt & mental din that tortures us day by day, telling us we aren’t good enough but like Lou has been showing us we must turn that struggle into something beautiful, something that’ll last “Forever.”
