Jahn Dough - Obsidian (Album)

Instantly, Jahn Dough cuts through the soulfully parading bop of “Wonderland” lyrically podium preaching to the congregation as they cheer in glee, you are automatically pulled into this record feeling welcomed & empowered simultaneously.

The OutKast, Goodie Mob influence is ever so present on records like “Match My Crazy” with it’s hymnal harmonies & a Million men’s feet marching organizationally in protest through your stomping grounds but that influence has only inspired Dough to take what he’s learned and apply it to something newer and more unique sounding.

Throughout this eclectic array of production styles from the dizzyingly illusory visions the orbiting sounds of “Trippin’” will leave you picturing to the minimalist paced jogging of “Finish Line” to the Sunday morning feels “Mudi Watuh”, there’s plenty to appreciate about Obsidian & you won’t find anything more righteous, black is beautiful as is the mineral.
