Benny The Butcher - 3:30 In Houston (Single)
Since Griselda emerged onto the scene, at least in a mainstream way, they remain true to what brought them to this point while still proving that they can do other styles as well. Any great MC can be versatile; Benny has shown that he can adapt to a much crisper sound sonically on the Hit-Boy laced “Burden of Proof.” It launched him into the mainstream territory but even still, before that, he had dropped the DJ Drama hosted “Da Respected Sopranos” with his BSF family, so it’s no surprise that he continues to apply pressure.
After recently surviving an unfortunate turn of events when Benny was shot in his leg during an unwarranted confrontational robbery in a Walmart parking lot in Houston a while back in November, he has been since recovering but coming back even more vital because he’s too damn real to let a little setback hold him back, channeling that fire the event has no doubt ignited inside him in the studio on “3:30 in Houston”, returning to that dusty, grimy shit as Benny snarls his menace over the monotone driven number.
Apparently, this is the first single to the soundtrack Benny is prepping to accompany his “Conflicted” movie. That’s right, Griselda is doing feature films now, proving that this is even bigger than the music. However, that’ll always remain the foundation to venturing off into other talents of theirs they wish to tap into to showcase to the world that this here is deeper than rap if they haven’t already acknowledged that fact prior to Benny reminding you on this daunting record, foreshadowing the danger lurking just around the corner so keep your guard up.
