Southside Hippie - Start Wit Me (Single)
This dog won't want to bite you, but he will if he has to, showing his teeth, his snarling auto-tuned chops ripping through your flesh if you try to start with him. You may think he's not threatening cause he's locked in a cage or behind a gate, but the underdog can surprise you as he leaps over the fence, rips himself free of his ball & chain & lunges at you to back you into the same corner you once tried to back him into.
"This shit ain't hard to me," clearly with how instantly infectious his melodies lull you into a transient state of well being as he whistles for his dogs of wae. Not the ones who simply do all the barking, seldomly sinking their teeth in you if ever, instead, choosing to bark up the wrong trees, you're fraudulence & fearfulness, he's picking up on your scent.
Southside Hippie is well on his way to a debut, with the four singles released so far, each differing stylistically, something I always admire in an artist; just keep me wondering what you are going to do next cause if it's a curveball like this single. Its predecessors were more on a rap tip, but he switched it completely & showed us he's more than capable of versatility & if the debut is anything like this, well, we're in for one hazy head trip of a listening experience.
