TARA - Self Deprecation (Single)
If any song described me precisely how I am as a person, it’s TARA’s latest single “Self Deprecation,” that’s something I’m all too familiar with emotionally. Especially as of late, I am not happy & me pretending like I am is just “the saddest lie,” but like her, “I don’t give a fuck how long it takes to heal,” it’s a process to which she is devoted to coping with.
“I do it to myself,” that’s the first step, admittance, to genuinely getting better. No longer blaming others for the things you’re going through or, even worse, put yourself through, like TARA also says in the record, “you move to get by, I move like a mortal.” She’s trying to live life to the fullest, even if it means engaging in worldly, aka meaningless activities, at least in the long run.
She says “pity party” for me cause she finds an absolute comfort being the center of attention at said pity party. This track is her party & she’ll overindulge & hate herself as much as she wants to. Still, the horns towards the end signal a triumphant overcoming of her own personal demons, she’s trying her best, which is all we can do & this song should let you know that even when you feel you’ve tried all you can, tried as hard as one possibly could, just keep trying.
